The Bare collection is an exercise in restraint.
I have a noticeable tendency to make things complicated. Both in painting and in life. Through my interest in mindfulness I've slowly started to be able to leave things be.
I had created these pieces and commented with several studio visitors how lovely they were by themselves. Something made me feel that I should complicate them to reveal some sort of value, but one of the visitors quite literally force me to sell her a simple shape. So, despite all me best efforts, I still needed an external intervention to just let go and accept these shapes by themselves.
Take these shapes as a reminder that often intelligence is making complex things simple, not the other way around.
